Hi There!

Welcome to The Ruk Digest!

Check out the latest one from 2/12:

Hello Fellow Rukkers!
This Pizza Startup Uses Machine Learning And Robots To Deliver Your Order

When Zume Pizza opens for business each day "an algorithm has already predicted what pizza orders should be pre-prepared.

Pizza customers are incredibly habitual, often ordering the same toppings every week, but Zume pushes its predictive model further by designing a menu that eliminates the specificity of those predictions.

Instead of building a pizza by toppings, customers choose pre-built combinations from the menu. And that allows the algorithm to guess correctly more often."

The pizzas are then made partially by robots and automation, including firing up the oven in a custom built truck (it has 56 ovens) four minutes from the next delivery so the pizza arrives ultra fresh.

Growing Portraits With Grass!

This is super creative!

I highly recommend watching the 5 minute video on how this is done.

"The British artists blur the lines between science, nature, and art."

A Giant Black Hole Set A Record For Swallowing A Star

Researchers discovered a black hole that tore apart a star and ate it's remains for about a decade.

"This is more than ten times longer than any observed episode of a star’s death by black hole."

By the way!

There are super massive black holes that contain billions of times more mass than our Sun!!!
 Pics of the Week

I watched a Netflix Original documentary Abstract: The Art of Design, which follows Christoph Niemann, an illustrator, graphic designer, and author of several books. His works have appeared "on the covers of The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, The New York Times Magazine and American Illustration."

These pics are my favorite from his Abstract Sunday Instagram Sketches.

Look closely =).
