Ruk Digest 10/9

Hello Fellow Rukkers!

If you're interested in helping curate for The Ruk shoot me an email.

1.  "There Is Power In Picking Up A Camera Each Day – Saying Yes To Creativity"

I came across a cool series where exceptional photographers are interviewed about their shooting style.

Click the link to 5 Minutes With A Photographer and read about Finn Beales, whose style can be described as "Cinematic, Contemplative, Story-driven".

My favorite part in the interview is this
: "A lot of my work is quite graphical in nature, but I try very hard to inject some emotion or energy into a scene. I think it’s fairly easy to shoot ‘technically perfect’ landscape images today - cameras are so good they’re almost foolproof and it’s crazy what you can do in the edit with programs like Photoshop. However, it’s much more difficult to elicit an emotional response from a viewer… that's the trick I think."

2.  Check Out The List of The Fastest Selling Cars In America - You'll Be Surprised

Ford F-150 tops the list, being sold every 39.7 seconds.

Key takeaway from this article:
"Car consumers seem to be getting more conservative."
"The car, once a source of passion and prestige, is becoming a more utilitarian commodity."

3.  The Future of Bike Safety: Glow-In-The-Dark Bike Paths

Using light emitting material that gets charged by the sun, Poland has created a bike path in Pruszków that lights up when biking at night.

Thought of the Week

"Meals can't sit for more than six to eight hours before boarding a plane. If a flight is delayed for more than a couple of hours, all of its meals could get thrown out and replaced."
